An example of historical development and criminal degeneration: with “War” and “barbarity”... that became “Genocide” due to” Sanctions” 1991- 2003

Abridgment of statement given as evidence of “WAR CRIMES” and “CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY”… to the International War Crimes Tribunal… the London hearing... 1991… with additions, notes and appendixes showing that the 2003 war and continuous "genocidal sanctions" had no pretense of illegality, finishing with prospects for our futures....

On the afternoon of January 15 1991 - Gulf Peace Team (GPT) members in our camp were asked to write twenty one words, mine were: "If my country contemplates or goes to war... I'm partially responsible for the events... and consequences... this is why I'm here...". Our related habitation couldn't be occupied by another contingent... due to the Saudi authorities... with nether permitting us further South....

At 3 am on January 17, an American who was on night watch, came into the tent I was sharing with three other men and awoke us with the words, “it’s started” and we should arise and go into the middle of our strange desert home…. Once there, we could see the sister travelers compound a few miles away, on the other side of the Iraq - Arabian boarder… for the first and only time - the lights were on…. Our encampment consisted of peace and humanitarian activists and workers, [from: Europe, America and the Indian subcontinent, Asia as well as Australasia], inside, instead of the normal resting pilgrims.... In the other... we found out later, were Saudi and French troops… (with Americans joining and fermenting an Army that advanced... into the central Iraqi desert... after we were removed, by very friendly young Iraqi troops...). Looking behind ourselves about eight miles, we sore the glow of the Iraqi front line; being bombed as it was continually…until the night before our departure ten days latter… there was not retaliation of any sort, or at least until after we had gone….

We put our bags and other 'tat' down, on the marbled ground floor of our new accommodation - the al-Rashid hotel Baghdad - as we were escorted to tables in the dining room, where we ordered drank and eat for 30-45 minutes.... When everyone I was aware of, was instructed to leave and led down flights of stairs into the air raid shelter in the basement. We found ourselves in a largely open plan area and the only part of the building with any electric lights, powered by a generator. The ceiling and walls were white within the space, with pillars and open partitions, containing iron bunk beds…. On their mattresses sat, rocked and lay young traumatized children, their pictures affixed around themselves, of crayoned bombers and death…. Not being permitted to leave by the way I had entered, I walked passed the tormented resultant of my country-folks actions and threw a door at the other end. Where there was already four other men pleading to face the prospect of the bombs, rather than the omnipresent horror of children’s pain…. A black American played his violin and two or three of our number, which grew to at least ten, attempted escape within a game of cards, on the bottom steps…. After about forty five minutes to an hour, with Iraqi soldiers moving to and fro, we were permitted to ascend to our rooms….

For at least four of us this meant the eighth floor, having only arrived that afternoon from our border encampment; we had to carrying our belongings up the pitch black invisible stairs and find our various quarters…. Where we resided, while the hotel occasionally trembled, due to nearby explosions… that pounded and shook this ancient city... (even the US embassy was eventually hit by a cruse missile... as was the al-Rashid itself...).

While in Baghdad we were taken on optional excursions... a significant day started with: a children’s hospital, without any clean syringes or supplies of drugs including strong pain killers; which resulted in an eight year old boy, with shrapnel wounds joining the queue for the morgue, after a girl... before it was possible to depart… [a pediatric intensive care unit P.I.C.U.... without real functionality... with the lack of essentials and precarious condition of children, striking at every hospital we visited...]. We were then shown a school in a civilian area that had been bombed, causing damage to nearby houses, shops and a mosque… all the time passing destruction and craters in the road…. Proceeding to the bombed baby milk factory, on the outskirts of Baghdad: (This has a particular significance, as slaughter gave way to "Genocide" with the commission of - "a medieval siege"... and the "Worst" of "War Crimes"...* As it was still being claimed by the Governments in Washington and London that it was a biological weapons plant in 2003… and was once again bombed, as had happened for a second time in 1998…). Everything about the place would persuade any reasonable person, that it was what it said on the different signs... saying that it purported to be: the only baby formula plant in the Middle East…. So convincing in fact a couple of our number tasted the powder... by running their fingers along the bombed iron of a section of the building, that had largely gone…. The whole site had layers of the powder... caused by bombardment. Most visitors just picking up a couple of bags... I’m a vegan and am therefore one of the few people not to consume the milk powder, whilst in the hotel; as it was the only milk available and was drunk also by the CNN staff and all other journalists I sore there…. We continued to be shown around civilian areas that had been bombed and were even permitted, to walk unescorted through the streets and market places; to see and judge the devastation that our countries actions caused to the infrastructure and individuals we met…. Only on one occasion was there any sense of animosity: when a little boy cried spat and screamed, only to be admonished and then comforted by his mother… we quickly moved on, recognizing another traumatized child….

Very early on the morning we left, two Jordanians and a Palestinian civilians were killed, on the cratered Baghdad - Amman 'motorway', (the "highway of death..." until the criminal sham on the road to Basra...); the bombardment then stopped, [as it had done while we traveled from the camp to Baghdad…], until we were reported to have arrived at the Jordanian side of the border, just after midnight on February 4…. Here we were greeted warmly and could see supplies of medicines, being held up by the embargo, (which was to last with only minor modifications until May 22 2003…). There were also changes manifest, from within our 'Team': with acknowledgment that if anyone killed any of us now, it would be "murder...", rather than a "mistake...", or "collateral damage..."; and cigarettes were now cheep, rather than a fortune each....

Others gave more detailed evidence, with lists and precise times, mine confirms various accounts, with emotions and feelings towards events... each day... sanitized and summarized in this form for you....

Appendix 1: continues in personal notation form: WMD the excuse used for continued sanctions, war and occupation....
Hans Blix 'naivety' caused himself many problems, [see his book], as he believed what he was told, as many others did and some still do… about the Iraqi weapons program and its alleged continued possession of weapons of mass destruction.... He would have been happy to continue with his work, to look for what we now must all accept was not there… However the UN monitoring, verification and inspection commission was recalled again*** and the illegal invasion and occupation began.... Many hold that the material that Britain and the USA knows Iraq had, if only because they had sold it to them, themselves; was mainly destroyed in 1991.... When according to some of the evidence given: all legitimate military targets in Iraq were destroyed on the first night of bombing, January 17 1991…. The American paper USA Today in 2004, states there were no significant supplies after 1994….** With the last credible year that any WMD or other materials could have been held being 1995, when the Iraqi government ordered the search and destruction of anything that the weapons expectorate may find to delay the lifting of the sanctions policy… this is after a previous public search and destroy policy employed in 1992/3.... Although Iraq, in 1998 is alleged to have expelled the UN monitoring, verification and inspection commission, which is disputed by the UN whom they were meant to be working for.... These fails claims are just one more form of distortion excepted by the British Iraq enquiries without it being stated by the witnesses: due to the British Prime Minister misleading Parliament, or in plain English lying.... When he said that the inspectors were thrown out of Iraq... when they left because America decided to bomb and further terrify the countries people and cities.... This itself was unacceptable, as its only basis was the inopportune words, or the posturing of a despot... that our government described as such... It also now seems certain, the Iraqi government were telling the truth: They had shown them, ("us") everything - that could reasonably be regarded as usable for weaponry purposes, (although duel purpose essential equipment was present in parts, or being used for civilian purposes... so is not an infringement of UN resolutions... and was also shown to the expectorate, still there is obfuscation and an 'historical' bias process and prospective... that except lies as fact... to distort this... despite the clear documented facts...); which was the reason they "we" could not find some of the material they [we] had sold to Iraq, was that it had been destroyed in bombardments… and by the Iraqi army - primarily between 1991 and 93.... Iraq also said that these investigations shamed themselves, (hence the pretentious posturing of Saddam...), as the genocidal sanctions continued, despite their total compliance…. This compliance was demonstrated by the weapons inspectorate headed by Hans Blix returning and being aided within all of their requests, by the Iraqi authorities; on a mission too find evidence for something that still has not been found there, being so... before recall and illegal war....

There is substantial evidences of many “WAR CRIMES” being committed by the USA and Britain; with the most despicable being, bringing unnecessary death and suffering to the innocent civilian population and particularly children. Who are granted special legal protections according to international law… which are explicitly applicable when a whole country is treated as the El-Amiriyyah civilian air-raid shelter...**** and then starved... and illegally occupied... by the USA and Britain.... It is also illegal to target civilian infrastructure, though power stations and water treatment facilities were destroyed on the first night of bombing; making potable water prohibitively expensive for ordinary Iraqis normally… after 1991.... With also the 2003 war and occupation clearly illegal: as there was not a UN resolution... and only the distorted pretense that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction... that even if true, still required a resolution, before the invasion of the country: (The UN's of resolutions of 1991 etc. for for use military force, only allowed for the expulsion of Iraq from Kuwait... and then arguably the aerial bombardment of certain weapons, or facilities that produced them and aeronautical infringements of a host of resolutions; which may also themselves, may not have been permitted these claimed legal, military missions; which went further than permitted anyway... definably not the invasion of the country....)..... Though on the eve of war President Bush said on CNN: if Saddam Husain and his sons left the country, it could be avoided…. Therefore one is drawn to the conclusion that the policies employed after 1991, were to bring about the illegal demand of the first President Bush and Clinton after himself, with John Major and Tony Blair, British Prime Ministers and their administrations: Which was the removal of the legitimate head of state of a sovereign nation, this is an unacceptable reason, particularly without UN resolution; for the polices of continuous “genocidal” sanctions, war and occupation… enforced by the veto... preventing any settlement.... Thereby maintaining a military presence of fear and death, with total interference... including for so long, the denial of the essentials required for the survive of millions of civilians.... Which resulted in mass UN resignations including: 32-year veteran of the United Nations Hans von Sponeck, who was UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, leaving to protest the "illegal and genocidal sanctions" in February 2000....

*Sanctions - an illegal war and illegal war and occupation.... Appendix 2: Notes and other evidence of conditions inside Iraq, with directions towards International law: These laws apply to all... despite security council privileges... highlighted.... I'm unable to directly use the the online material from the "Lancet" here as it has to be paid for and the Harvard University Study Teams intellectual investigations, as they have been removed form general availability, due to the reports being used to justify violence, rather than intellectual and humanitarian work and understandings... So just include this Internet selection below to outline systematic "crimes...". NB. I also didn't provided a full list of notes and evidence within the text, as it would of made this almost impossible to read, although all of the statement above, (though not the entirety of my evidence, or that against the British and US Governments, which this is a summery of...), are contained within the internet links below....

**http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2004-03-02-un-wmd_x.htm USA Today newspaper published on 3 February 2004 this link says, Iraq did not have WMD or other significant equipment after 1994… also note, none has been discovered since the invasion and occupation....

*** http://revcom.us/a/v23/1130-39/1132/sponeck_iraq.htm Hans von Sponeck: The Inside Story of U.S. sanctions on Iraq, who replace Denis Halliday, who also resigned due to the "genocide" of the Iraqi people... see last two paragraphs....
"RW: The U.S. press claims that Iraq forced UN weapons inspectors to leave the country in December 1998, but in your talk you said that UNSCOM actually left of its own accord, that you and your team stayed in Baghdad, and that the report that Richard Butler, the head of UNSCOM, submitted just before was used as a justification to attack Iraq.
HVS: That's absolutely correct. I mean there was no decree or request by the government of Iraq for UNSCOM to leave. They left in time because Iraq was subjected to a bombardment, and the letter of Mr. Butler to the Security Council I am sure will ultimately, in the books of history, be judged as the key to the justification for the Americans to attack Iraq. His letter said that Iraq had not cooperated, and therefore the warning by the U.S. government had not been heeded, and this provided the opening to attack."

**** El-Amiriyyah: (lead article, the Guardian, 15-2-91) “… charred bodies continued to be pulled from the Baghdad bunker hit on Wednesday. Spain called for an international enquiry into the attack and an end to the blanket bombing of Iraq… ”. Robert Fisk(Independent, 15-2-91) “Funerals of the first victims of the bombed bunker were held amid scenes of high emotion in the Iraqi capital as a wave of anti-American sentiment swept the Arab world” (Independent, 14-2-91) “The death of at least 400 civilians in a Baghdad air-raid shelter did not seem to have ruptured the political consensus on the war in either London or Washington… the consensus between the Labour front bench and the Government held firm… There were angry Tory protests when George Galloway… told the Foreign Secretary [Douglas Hurd]: ‘As you watched the television screen at lunchtime and saw the ribbons of women and children swept out of the air-raid shelter in Baghdad, some of the blood of these innocent civilians was on your hands. Will you stop bombing cities now?’".... There has been no evidence of anything but a civilian shelter ever found there either... and this is only one example of total indiscriminate devastation....

Law: Principles of the Nuremberg Tribunal, 1950 http://deoxy.org/wc/wc-nurem.htm#p6 "Crimes against peace... etc...". "Planning, preparation, initiation or waging of a war of aggression or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances; Participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the acts mentioned under (i)...". The evidence that Iraq had complied with all of the demands of the UN including that: it destroy it's "weapons of mass destruction...", is there in as much as, there is none... Q.E.D. compliance must have been completed... and could be assumed when stated in 1991.... without conflicting evidence.... There was no UN vote or, the possibility of arguing that any of the resolutions of the UN, could constitute acceptance of a war, with the sole aim being to replace the leadership and occupy Iraq... [this piece of legislation has substantial evidence of being applicable before 2003...]. So a war was 'planed prepared and initiated with extreme aggression against Saddam Hussain, as well as the Baathist secular "western" society... where al Qaeda were outlaws, that could be murdered by the regime.... That is now even more of a mess, with repression and corruption worse than before; also religion dominates politics and is still gaining further ascendancy... with al Qaeda just one more group, amongst many extremes.... So the commission of this illegal war should result in the "victors", facing investigation and prosecution for "crimes against peace..." and "conducting a war of aggression" the most serious of "War Crimes..." encompassing by definition the "... accumulated evil.." above and below.... Kofi Annan UN Secretary General 1997-2008 said, "I have indicated [the invasion] was not in conformity with the UN Charter... From the Charter point of view, it was illegal." So the political leaders in Washington and London are War Criminals.... There are only two 'legal' excuses for the use of force 1/ Self defense, following attack and 2/ the authorization of the security council of the UN, neither are applicable to the war in 2003....

"Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide": http://www.hrweb.org/legal/genocide.html Many religious or tribal/cultural communities have disappeared.... There is also legal arguments from 1994, [expressed by international jurists adding this charge...] that are based upon magnitude of the "crimes", as in Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia, after half a million children had been reported as killed due to sanctions... As well as the statements of Denis Halliday who after a 34-year career with the UN (rising to the Assistant Secretary-General level) resigned in October 1998; saying: “I had been instructed to implement a policy that satisfies the definition of genocide : a deliberate policy that has effectively killed well over a million individuals, children and adults”, in Iraq.... many lower ranking UN officials have made similar statements... as have countless legal experts including Ramsey Clark former United States Attorney General... etc... and many legislators including British former cabinet minister Tony Benn... etc....

Appendix 3: Our future can only start when we are able to move on from our past; to do this we need to recognize where we are, then find and take our first steps towards a hopeful peaceful future....

In 1991 there wasn't a war in the traditional sense, as it requires two sides to be engaged in a conflict: Here there was one side doing the bombing and the other attempting surrender and running away... sometimes to be "murdered"... including being buried alive.... With the fatalities telling there own story: over 150,000 Iraqi's dead and 79 US which includes "friendly fire incidents...".

This "turkey shoot", was followed by an illegal campaign directed against civilian secular Iraqi society, resulting primarily in the death and suffering of her children with vulnerable and weak people.... This aided the growth of religious extremism globally, with some directing a "holy war" against the west, employing their own illegal methodology... under the umbrella Western inspired Wahhabi organization of al Qaeda.... This could have been predicted, as I said in 1991, "... that our... murder and abuse of children... results in ourselves becoming legitimate military targets, as the best of humanity are obliged to attack us... due to our degenerate and perverted crimes... for power control and money.... The only way to avoid this and move forward is with - Peace Love and Hope.... Peace Love Hope... is only methodology now... for change and survival...".

The religious alliances we fermented in Afghanistan, to fight the former Soviet Union, coalesce around a sense of victimization and hatred of those they feel are attacking and subjugating themselves faith and kin.... This alienation grows expedientially with outside interference... therefore the conflicts have both created new recruits and dispersed people who are willing to fight against the West - their 'enemy' using any means... globally....

This I witnessed in Jordan (2003), despite former secular Iraq opposing both Sunni and Shi'ite 'fundamentalism', I met many of these 'religious' peoples' going to fight US and British forces, (though the Shia 'fundamentalists', are not at present engaging in hostile activities outside their own 'neighborhood'...), as they (we) engaged in illegal war.... People from both of their religious chasms... said to me, that when London was bombed, my family and I would be protected... [with the reliance of god I presume... when one thinks about it... I have no god...]. What they meant by this was that, I didn't represent their enemy... [I oppose the violent resolution of conflicts...], many also do not blame the English people and army, but the political class... these organizations were also not present in the secular Baathist controlled Iraq, until it lost its authority....

As many people throughout the world now view us as genocidal terrorists and worse, who are responsible for countless millions of children's deaths; that dwarfs the conservative figures of the UN and lower numbers of the former Baathist Iraqi government, which are themselves truly horrifying.... This necessities that the crimes committed by our government and political leaders, being properly and fully investigated, with prosecutions in the international court, as there is clearly a case to answer....

Although this is only a small part in itself of what is required... as it is also essential to remove our armed forces and capricious mercenaries from Iraq and Afghanistan.... And to close down all illegal detention facilities, as well as stop the illegal abduction and transportation of 'enemy soldiers/commanders' and other individuals around the world.... There must also be investigations into all of the abuses of prisoners, following their illegal transportations and abductions....

It is not enough to 'scapegoat' a few lone soldiers, although investigations should take place when criminal allegations are made, instead of waiting for 'confessions'.... Following investigation many of the prosecutions/trials and punishments should also take place in Iraq or Afghanistan etc... as atrocious offenses were committed upon their innocent defenseless people.... An example of such a case would be Steven Dale Green and his depraved brethren: Who have eventually been convicted of the rape and murder of 14-year old Abeer al-Janabi and the butchering of her family... before burning their bodies and blowing up their home....

There is also the need to strengthen the independence of both countries and regain respect trust and hope for the UN... which requires the full participation of the international community, (particularly as investigators and for the prosecution and jury...), however there is no place for any direct involvement form the US and Britain. (other than defendants with their (our) own international legal teams...); as trust in ourselves has evaporated.... Though this does need to be rebuilt, which can be aided with these proposals and the required reexamination of their debts and payment schedules.... With the need for "compensation", and or 'aid' to be paid to Iraq for: hospitals and schools, with reconstruction of water and electrical facilities as well as paying a sum in recognition of the destruction of historic treasures... enabling them to one again enjoy European life prospects, with the arts from conception.... This whole process needs to be delivered by Iraqi organization and not western multinationals, which have transfered resources shamefully from devastated Iraqi.... Who's oil and agricultural development must also be returned and determined by Iraq, rather than US multinationals etc.... Afghanistan and Pakistan has a more difficult and prolonged stabilization process, to be developed and aided by the international community.... Then there is Yemen and Somalia... African, Asia and central America... etc... Palestine/Israel and ending racism and tackling tribalism.... There is much to do when we get out of the gutter... within an environmental framework too....

The Middle East also requires disarmament of weapons of mass destruction, (as there is also the need for these disarmament processes to commence and encompass the entire world...), and a standing conference of all the governments and political movements in the area... this will require the aid of the entire international community, to ensure all parties fully participate.... Which could require the implementation of what are now described as "smart" or "legal and legitimate sanctions...": directed towards the personal wealth and ability of named individuals to travel and have free movement... etc... although wouldn't target and minimize the effects upon civilian society and specifically the weak.... Without any form of foreign domination, that many feel the USA has been attempting since a 1945 US State Department report that said, "[The Middle East] ... one of the greatest material prizes in world history."

Everywhere people want to live in peace and have security for their children.... This is even stronger within the peoples' of Iraqi and Afghanistan, as their suffering has been so much greater for so long... (since the 1970's there has only been nineteen months of peace, in either country for ordinary people... despite the words of the Taliban and four year governance.... although we should never have returned there...). This is confirmed by most of the people from these conflict zones I've met, not wanting any real shameful retribution... ("... acknowledgment... of crimes..."), mainly a full examination of what has happened, with prosecutions for the foreign leaders and perpetrators of their criminal suffering and financial 'aid', and compensation for the rebuilding of their lives societies and countries....

This is not about the political, which is a failure in that we're engaged within a messy global war... etc... but conscience that children and the week should not of been, or be again indiscriminately targeted, (killed and abused), to induce fear in others... and that nations should not be illegally invaded and occupied.... This is about morality... the numbers are in part insignificant from many prospectives of the "crimes..." despite there magnitude of horrors, with the lowest or conservative figures for fatalities being over a million innocent children... from this previously described 'Iraqi holocaust'; with just one unnecessary child already to many... so an independent international investigations must commence.... to determine and judge our crimes.... This full international investigation, should also examine the legality of everything that has happened in Afghanistan etc....

From here we can once again develop and evolve... looking forward and working for peace, in a world based upon the first words of the UN Charter: "We the peoples of the United Nations determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war...". As we rejoin and strengthen a revitalizing international community; which we can aid in the building and work of local regional and global formations, working within empowered UN frameworks... with international jurists.... minimizing abuses of power and authority... between peoples'... within autonomous local and regional evolving frameworks... that have security council seats... rather than the five, with only one from the EU instead of the two... etc....

This short summery cannot lay out all of the charges against the USA and Britain, though I hope I've made the case: That there is just cause to have an independent international investigation into War Crimes... and have aided increased understanding of the terrorist war, we are engaged within... which will further spread unless we disengage and seek peace and justice for all.... I'll finish with three apposite tunes and lyrics first: shame on censorship 18+ Every Bomb You Make-Sting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe4_OMAWJVs - War...what is it good for? absolutely nothing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeqmObTLT_U&feature=related and War (What Is It Good For?)
